The Columbus Marathon is this Sunday (10/20/13) morning. The full marathon route runs through the campus area on W. Lane Avenue, Fyffe Road, Woody Hayes Drive and around the stadium. These roads may be subject to partial or rolling closures during the morning. Allow extra time to/from the ice rink, and try to avoid using Lane Avenue or Woody Hayes Drive if at all possible. You might consider approaching the rink on Neil Avenue from the north, crossing over Lane Avenue and then curving around to Tuttle Park Place and the side entrance to the parking lot.
The marathon map can be found at http://media.wix.com/ugd/aa0c98_fb8c90aaad63480cc3a0b43f4f478c4d.pdf
The marathon pace chart can be found at http://media.wix.com/ugd//aa0c98_b98296ab14e9fa2f824d99a8ac0730f5.pdf Mile 16 is the portion on Lane Avenue, and the first participants are expected around 8:30am.
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will close portions of Woody Hayes Drive (and College Road, Neil Avenue and 17th Avenue) between 10am and 12:30pm. Based on the information we have received from OSU Transportation and Traffic Management, Lane Avenue is not affected, but there may be traffic congestion due to the other road closures. Please allow extra time to get to/from the rink on Sunday.
The parking lots surrounding the OSU Ice Rink are managed by CampusParc. You have several options for parking when skating at the rink.
1) Park with a valid OSU faculty/staff/student permit.
2) Park with a Visitor Surface Lot Permit (Off-Peak) (obtained from 160 Bevis Hall at 1080 Carmack Road on West Campus). These are available in single, multi-day and monthly increments. See http://www.campusparc.com/osu/about-us/contact for business hours, etc.
3) Park with a single-use validation ticket obtained from the blue Pay-n-Display kiosks (they take coins and credit/debit cards).
4) Park with ParkMobile, which is a new visitor payment option that utilizes pay-by-phone and smart phone applications. ParkMobile accounts can be registered online at http://www.parkmobile.com, via the ParkMobile app, or in their automated phone system at 877-727-5009 and entering the required information to create an account. The OSU ice rink parking lot zone number is 69318.
5) Park without paying and risk getting a ticket (not suggested!).
At times, CampusParc personnel are on site at the lot entrances collecting a flat-rate event parking fee. If you will be at the rink for several hours, the event fee may be cheaper than other options.
