About the Ice Rink
The Columbus Figure Skating Club has purchased ice at the Ohio State University Ice Rink since the rink was built in 1961. Floyd Stahl, then OSU Athletic Director, made it possible for the Club to start skating at OSU. The OSU ice rink is a 1000 seat capacity arena with an NHL regulation hockey sized rink (85’ x 200’). The rink also has a pro shop that sells skates, skate guards, and hockey apparel and offers skate sharpening.
Like most clubs, Columbus FSC shares ice time with other organizations. As a non-university club, we purchase our ice time around the needs of university programs like phys-ed classes, OSU Figure Skating Club ice, OSU synchronized skating, OSU women’s hockey, OSU group lessons, and public skates. (Men’s hockey has moved predominately to Value City Arena)
Parking at the OSU Ice Rink
Typically, the parking surface lots and garages around the rink offer ample paid parking. Parking on the OSU campus is managed by CampusParc. Click Here to view CampusParc’s Surface Lot payment options. The OSU ice rink parking lot zone number is 69318.
Below is a brief overview of CampusParc’s options for surface lot parking.
- Park with a valid OSU faculty/staff/student permit.
- Park with a Visitor Permit – daily and monthly permits available.
- Park using Hourly Rate options – meters, pay-by-plate kiosks, or ParkMobile. ParkMobile accounts can be created by calling 877.727.5099, registering online, or through GooglePlay and AppStore. (Zone Number 69318)
Please note that campus parking police do patrol the lots and write tickets, so be sure to properly display your permit or kiosk receipt.
During certain campus events, CampusParc personnel are at lot entrances collecting a flat-rate event parking fee. Usually advising CampusParc personnel that you are going to the ice rink for a scheduled session is sufficient to gain access. If you will be at the rink for several hours, the event parking fee may be the most cost-effective option.
