Hiser Recognized for 25 Years of Service

Long-time club member, Mary Hiser, was recognized in the January 2020 issue of Skating Magazine for receiving her 25 year pin for judging at the Governing Council of USFS last May.

Mary started skating as an adult at 29, passing preliminary figure, preliminary free skate, adult bronze free skate, and bronze dance tests. She credits her interest in judging to Bob and Marcia Ouellette, who encouraged her to start trial judging and have supported her through the years.

Mary is a National Singles and Pairs Judge (achieved in 2010) and a National Showcase Judge (2012).  She is also a Gold Free Skate/MIF test judge and a Silver Dance test judge.

Her favorite judging experiences to date are judging at the 2016 U.S. Championships in St. Paul Minnesota and the 2017 Nations Cup International Theatre On Ice competitions. She also competed in the first-ever Adult Championships and went on to compete in three more and serve as an official for four.

She presently serves U.S. Figure Skating as the Vice-Chair, Theatrical Skating, and on the Judges Management Subcommittee. For CFSC, she served as President from 1992-94 and has also been Test Chair, Membership Chair, and Publicity Chair.  She has also served as a referee and judge for many CFSC Holiday Season Competitions.

We join USFS in recognizing Mary for her tireless efforts!

When you see Mary at events, please take a moment to thank her for her contributions to CFSC and the entire skating community!
