CFSC utilizes the Ohio State University as our home rink, we offer club ice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays throughout the school year.
To skate on club ice, you must be a member of CFSC. Please see the membership page for all of the options available to join the club and up to date pricing. Additionally, please see the below information for our most current Guest Skater Policy:
Policy Revisions (effective November 1, 2024)
- Effective November 1, 2024, local skaters who are not Members of the Columbus Figure Skating Club will be prohibited from skating on CFSC Club Ice sessions. This represents a discontinuation of the former policy permitting local skaters and those considering Membership in the Columbus Figure Skating Club to skate on as many as three Club Ice sessions as a “Guest Skater.” Skaters who have not yet utilized the three “Guest Visits” permitted by the previous policy may continue to skate on Club Ice a maximum of three times through November 1. As always, our intention is never to impose superfluous challenges on our valued coaches but rather to further a superlative commitment to the safety of our skating community and our skating environment.
- In a return to foundational CFSC policy, a “Guest Skater” shall henceforth be defined as a skater living farther than 50 miles from the OSU Ice Rink. Eligible non-local Guest Skaters may attend a Club Ice session once per season. Should a non-local Guest Skater wish to attend Club Ice more frequently than the one-session-per-season allowance, the Guest Skater will be obliged to purchase a Non-Home Club Membership. Membership in the Columbus Figure Skating Club will be mandatory for any skater who regularly attends, or intends to regularly attend, Club Ice sessions. Compulsory Non-Home Club Membership will thus be required for skaters including, but not limited to, non-local students attending school in the Columbus area as well as members of other Clubs who may utilize CFSC Club Ice regularly on weekends and/or when ice is not available at other local rinks.
- Prior to attending a Club Ice session, prospective non-local Guest Skaters aspiring to skate on Club Ice must email the Ice Chair (cfscice@gmail.com) to complete the CFSC Club Ice Waiver and present proof of current USFS Membership. The Ice Chair, in concert with the Board of Directors, will convey eligibility decisions to petitioning parties. Only upon approval, granted and communicated by the Ice Chair, shall a non-local Guest Skater be permitted to utilize Club Ice.
- Because special circumstances may arise, please be aware and assured that the CFSC Board may grant exceptions to the Guest Skater Policy at its discretion.
Please also be assured that this reassessment of the CFSC Guest Skater Policy is strictly motivated by the aim to enhance the safety of all members of the Columbus Figure Skating Club—skaters and coaches alike. Bear in mind, for instance, that non-Member skaters lack insurance coverage through USFS—a significant liability for our Club.
Once again, the new Guest Skater Policy will go into effect on November 1 (affecting Club Ice sessions beginning on November 3).
These sessions are monitored throughout the duration of ice time and are intended to be a dedicated session to figure skating and skating skills practice. Please reach out to the Ice Chair at cfscice@gmail.com with any questions about club ice standard operating procedures and visit our Calendar page for the most up to date schedule, contract information, and pricing.
